When you think God is saying NO

Back in 2008, I remember things when in high school, most of my friends had this extraordinary summer holiday. Europe, America, Australia, you name it. I heard their exciting stories and was dreaming of going there. I was not jealous of them, I just wanted to share stories too. I keep asking to God, but at that time I felt that He was saying no.
Years go by, and surely visiting Europe is one of my buried dreams. Turned out it was not a No.
I finished my medical degree, a doctor, in 2016. After years of studying, I feel proud and a little bit exhausted. I was trying to plan a holiday because I thought I deserve one. Nope, nothing was coming right. Things got miserable. My friends left me into another trip. I got pissed, but still, I left it to God.
"If You think I do not deserve a holiday, it's okay. I'll leave it to You, just stay with me through thick and thin."

And things got changed. I got a phone call saying that my family had prepared a trip for me to Europe. Yes to Europe! I got speechless and could not stop saying gratitude. Things I learned: it's always perfect at His own time, at His plan. He cancelles all my Singapore, Korea, and Hongkong trip just to give me this big one. He saved this gift after all this time because I am now enjoying things differently. I am more mature than past-me, the one who asked for it back then. I am loving photography right now, and I think Europe is such a perfect place to capture. After years of studing at hospital? Yes, Europe is such a perfect gift.
Turned out it was not a no. It was a "I have something better for you."

So whatever your struggle right now, just keep praying. It may be a yes, a no, or just like mine, it took years to show me that He's having something MUCH BETTER. I have my own struggle too right now. I've seen miracles in my life because of what He did, and I just can't wait to see another one. So I'll leave it to You, Dad! ❤️

Coming soon on the blog: MY EUROPE TRIP!

WAKE CUP COFFEE PANTAI INDAH KAPUK

Another new coffee shop in Pantai Indah Kapuk Jakarta: Wake Cup coffee! Wake cup is not a kid in this industry. So far they already had 7 stores and experiences a lot in the field. Location is very strategic, located in the busy part of PIK food area, next to Astig steak house, in Tony and Guy salon.

Playing shadow at Wake Cup coffee. I love love the big window for the natural sunlight. ❤️ Basically they are separated into 2 ares, smoking and non smoking one. Ambiance is quite nice and suitable for your good time with friends.

Coffee latte-32k
Coffee was nice, made itself by the owner. They have 2 choices of light and original type of coffee, I'd go for their original one of course. Taste was suitable to my liking and consistency was alright. The coffee was also not too strong.

Matah dog-45k

Potato wedges -27k

Cheesy balls-32k
They also had some mini bites to accompany your coffee.
Sambal matah dog was my favorite! The bread and the meat was quite nice, served with sambal matah which made it even better. Potato wedges was flavoful and enjoyable. Overall their food was good and palatable!

Also loving this chocolate brownies, it was really gooey inside! One of the best I'd ever had! ❤️

Overall it was a nice experience here at Wake Cup Coffee PIK. This one could be your option for spending good times with your loved one. Good luck for your opening, thank you for having me!

THINGS TO DO IN BANDUNG: WHERE TO EAT AND RELAX

Bandung has always been a destination for domestic tourism. This city somehow delivers its beauty from the atmosphere, the people, and of course the food. I did make a spontaneus 2 days trip with my brother. Let's see if my stories can give any suggestion for you about where to go in Bandung!

CAFE LULA
Located next to Glosis in Cisangkuy area, this little cafe has its own signature with their bakery and restaurant. They have several selections of smoothies bowls and breakfast menu, which was pretty enjoyable. My personal favorite was YELLOW SUBMARINE (50k), made of pineapple and peach smothies and fruit toppings. Very refreshing.

COMMON GROUND COFFEE
I had some favorites cafes in Bandung, but when I had to choose for one comfort coffee, Common Grounds Coffee Bandung is the one. Dominated in white, minimalist ambiance, and good coffee were surely a perfect description for them. Personal favorite? Their Flora Technica for sure! Don't forget to take a bite at their cherry crumble, scrumptious!

Jl. Dr. Setiabudhi No.49, Sukasari, Kota Bandung, Jawa Barat

SUDIRMAN STREET FOOD
Located next to the well-known Cibadak street, this food street is kinda cool. Somehow I found the food was dominated with pork based, which was  very make me drool! I tried fettucine with pork from JURRASIC PORK and pork sated egg from XIAN DAN SALTEDEGG. Both of them are very flavorful, enjoyable pork, and pleasing. Don't forget to try kue pukis, my personal favorite because it was buttery and fragrant as well. Happy tummy indeed!

MARTABAK ASAN BANDUNG
I've heard this martabak several times but did not try it before. I was craving for martabak but did not want to be too heavy so I decided to have this one. One bite and I was like Oh My God! The buttery crispy martabak was soo good it was like having tasty crepe but thicker. I had one with cheese and very enjoyable. Gonna back for sure!

PANDAN WANGI SUNDA RESTAURANT
Trying out something new is always interesting, but sometimes I just want something within my comfort zone. This one is my favorite everytime I do crave for Sundanese food. Try their terong raos: crispy eggplant with sweet and salty seasoning, so good!

FARM HOUSE LEMBANG
One world to describe it: pretty! Everything inside was so lovely and very instagenic. Entrance fee was 20k per person and I honestly think it was so worth it! The entrance coupon could be exchange with free fresh milk, which they sold for 30k/glass.
Basically it was lotsa pretty building contained of food stalls, souvenirs, restaurant, and cafe. They also had pretty corner that really interest many people with its hobbit house. I personally loved this place and hope that it would stay clean like this in the future.

LAWANGWANGI CREATIVE SPACE
It was something you should try if you wanted to see something new like architectural things. Too bad it was under renovation when I got there. Lucky me, they got nice cafe in the second floor with pleasing view: Bandung from above. They also had local store that sold local bags, clothes, books, etc.

THE LODGE EARTHBOUND
Located in 1 hour-drive from the city, this camping area was so relaxing. Everything was so green and soothing as well. The air was super fresh, such a perfect place to retreat from the city life. Oh, they have a tree house which was very pretty for me. Entrance fee was 15k/person. Although it was quite far, the access to this place was quite good, although it was not recommended to ride with your small/city car.

FILLMORE COFFEE

Hello!
As you know coffee shops in Jakarta are popping here and there. One of the new coffee shops is Fillmore Coffee, Kuningan area.

Finding Fillmore is not top hard, simply easily tracked in Google Map/ Waze, although they are not located in the main street. This hidden gem resides in Suites at Seven, a building that actually is residents for expats.

They are offer homey ambiance that I loved, a lot. One of my favorite corner was their signage of 'I am home', which really described this pretty place. They are dominated with rustic wooden decoration, giving a luxurious yet elegant atmosphere at the same time. The place was quite small though, only consisted of  17ish capacity of people.

Latte-36k
Iced honey latte-43k
One of their favorites was honey latte, which was basically latte with honey instead of sugar. I personally loved it! It delivered the natural sweet taste without being too overwhelming. Latte was fine, a bit watery, but the barista was too kind to give me another one, which was better and creamier.

They also had several smoothies bowls, and I had Fillmore-58k, consisted of chocolate, banana, peanut butter,  and granola. I chose this one because I am a sucker for banana and peanut butter and enjoyed it a lot. The consistency was quite thick and fulfilling, but in a good way.

Galette de Rois - 25k
This one was their recommendation, which was actually a almond pastry. It was quite hard to eat this because it was messy when you cut it, but it was surely an enjoyable bite. Sweet and light, good companion for your coffee.

Fillmore and Kodaline, a perfect match ❤️

Overall Fillmore was pretty, homey, and enjoyable. Coffee was fine and food was nice. Make sure to drop by when you are in Kuningan area.
