Places to go : pretty dessert all the way

Pretty dessert is a new lifestyle for most of Jakarta people. Pretty cakes on beautiful plate is surely a great companion for those evenings with the beloved one. Many cafes and restaurants try to satisfy the needs, but only some of them that could bring me back for a plate for their dessert.

JJ Royal Bistro/ Brasserie
Lower Ground Senayan City/ Lower Ground Lotte Shopping Avenue
A newest addition in town. Their cronut is really something to die for. Crunch outside and sticky inside, yes, that's just the cronut I need. The raspberry one has the vanilla filling which is scrumptious, and the caramel one has caramel filling which is such a sweetheart and of course, sweeter. For a fan of bread and butter pudding, Berry berry good sundae is a must. Soft croissant butter on the bottom with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and raspberry on top, not to mention a pinch of almond too. A very very good one indeed. Psst! They have wide selections of cake on the display!

Union Brasserie
Ground floor, Plaza Senayan / Street Gallery, PIM
My first choice for an afternoon with pretty cakes. I am not a cake person, but their cake is truly an exceptional. Red Velvet, was such a winner since 2011, and still on the top of the list. Moist cake with fragrant and tasty cream cheese and Union's signature peanut on top and every layer on it. PB n J, stands for peanut butter and jelly, was caught my heart on the first bite. The peanut butter, strawberry jam, and dance beautifully in my mouth. They also have their own cronut, called flaky doughnut, which is served in 3 flavors. The vanilla chocolate is my favorite so far. The vanilla filling inside is really tasteful.

Cacaote
Jl. Senopati no 80, Jakarta Selatan
Prettily stand on the busy street of Senopati area, such a great place to spread the sweetness. Their Cacaote cake, with Chocolate glaze on top, chocolate sponge and mousse, caramelized nuts on the bottom is a perfect match for the sweet-tooth. Their fruit tart,on the other hand, offers the freshness of the fruit and not-too-overwhelming sweetness from the fla.

Koi
Jl. Kemang Raya no 72, Kemang Jakarta / Jl. Mahakam 1 no 2, Blok M Jakarta
Koi offers good food, but their dessert, in this case I mean the Apple crumble, is amazing. A warm baked caramelized apple on the bottom, buttery crumble on top, scoop of ice cream, and caramel syrup for extra sweetness. This really is the best apple crumble in town!

Ninety Nine
Jl. Pesanggrahan Raya no 2, Ranch Market Pesanggrahan, Jakarta Barat / Lower Ground East Mal Grand Indonesia / Lower Ground, Lotte Shopping Avenue
Pretty places with lots of tempting cakes and desserts on plate. Warm bread and butter pudding is a major love. Heartwarming bread and butter with scoop of vanilla ice cream was one bite of goodness. Their signature crepe could be a great choice too! My favorite is the banana nutella one, which is melting beautifully in my mouth.

Bistro Garcon
4th floor no. 410, Plaza Senayan
A home for eclairs lover. The layer is perfect and the taste is just awesome. Imagine the gooey filings meet the soft pastry. The caramel one tasted the sweetest but I am such a fan of it!

Those are my choices to spend my afternoon with pretty dessert. What's yours? ;)

Sicacilla Kitchen : Homemade meets perfection

Hi readers!
Sorry for the absence. I just got home from a quick escape to Hongkong and been preparing for my big exam in January. My life was really stick with exams, eh?
Anyway, this is a one quick post to my newest favorite of tart specialist: Sicacilla.
Sicacilla was joining a bazaar back then in Grand Indonesia and they really caught my eye.
I bought all the flavors left, unfortunately there was only 3 of them. Looks like they were such a superstar on the bazaar!

It was started when the friendly owner finished the pastry school in Melbourne and wanted to start something new. Such a bright idea to start with these cute tarts, right? 6 flavors and I could say, all of them were nudging my curiosity.

Coconut cream
A great tart shell, buttery scented. The coconut cream was such a brilliant idea. I could taste a hint of grilled coconut with delicious cream, which were dancing perfectly in my mouth!

Peanut butter and Cheesecake
I am a big, big fan of peanut butter and jelly. And yes, they did have it! Tart of peanut butter with layer of raspberry jam on the bottom was such a sweetheart. If only I could taste more raspberry jam, it could be perfect. For the cheesecake, it need no more introduction. The filling was soft and fragrant, reminded me to a famous Japanese cheesecake mini tart.

Overall all of them was really good. I am longing to try another creation of theirs!

JJ Royal Bistro Senayan City : newest addiction

Senayan City just added a new selection of fancy restaurant. Buzzing sound of crowd, colorful light on top, choices of tempting pretty pastry. This restaurant has its sister landed at Lotte Shopping Avenue already. Yes, JJ Royal Bistro is here at Senayan City!

This place somehow has its own futuristic side for me. The transparent chairs was dominating, not to mention the face of Chinese girl everywhere!

JJ Royal Bistro with their addiction of coffee. They served wide choices of coffee, as a product of JJ Royal and Gulaku.

Linguine Aglio Olio (85k)
Al dente linguine with ebi and nuts on top. Somehow the dish was a bit dry, but I had a really good one in JJ Royal Brasserie before. Problem with the consistency of goodness. However the nuts and ebi were really good with the pasta. Big chunks of tenderly cooked shrimp, too!

US BBQ Pork Ribs (185k)
The winner of the day. The super tender BBQ Pork Ribs served with fries and honey BBQ sauce. It was the feeling when the pork was melting in your mouth, literally. I was tempted to eat this one by hand, to enjoy its finger-licking-goodness. The fries was a good companion. The sauce, however, was too sweet for some.

It was so tender I'm gonna die!

The Animal (135k)
Pizza with ham, melted cheese and meatballs on top. The toppings were really generous. Tasted just fine. I was not a fan for the meatballs, though.

Marsmallow sweet potato gratin (40k)
Actually this was one of their selections of side dishes, but turned out it was quite popular for the dessert. Crushed sweet potato on the bottom was sweet enough for me, and the combination with the sweetness from the baked marshmallow on top was quite overwhelming. Sweet!

Affogato (55k)
A coffee based beverage with shots of espresso on the bottom with a scoop of ice cream on top and chunks of macarons. I liked it when the ice cream was melting to balance the bitterness from the coffee.

Raspberry cronut (35k)
A sweetheart which brought me back few days later only to have a bite of this sweet indulgence. I love the texture, crust on the outside and a bit sticky inside. The vanilla sauce inside was a major yum to combine with the pastry, and the taste of raspberry was balancing all the sweetness. Recommended!

Overall it was such a great time here. Great service with wide selection of food and dessert.Curious about their Indonesian food, some said it was very good. Gonna come back for sure!
