OJJU KOREAN RESTAURANT KOTA KASABLANKA

Here comes the post about one of the latest restaurant in Jakarta: OJJU KOREAN RESTAURANT!

I did see the post about Ojju from my fellow blogger and somehow it was so tempting with its melted cheese on the hotplate. Another friend of mine also told me about this quite popular Korean restaurant in Korea which was serving this kind of Korean food, and it was great they said. So I decided to try Ojju at Kota Kasablanka Mal.

Ojju is located in upperground level at Kota Kasablanka, resides at that food area. Place-wise, it was not so spacious, fit for around 50 people I guess. Anyway, reservation is recommended because it was quite packed when I was there. I did make a reservation but still have to wait for 45 minutes. While waiting the live show cooking at each table was entertaining and such a pleasure to be watched!

BUDAE JIGAE
BEEF 169k/CHICKEN 149k/SEAFOOD 229k/VEGETABLES 119k

Set of budae jigae. Korean soup with choices of beef/ chicen/ seafood/ vegetables. I added korean ramen (22k) to enhance the soup. Kimchi was not too strong in my opinion and the color was a bit pale. My recommendation was adding the cheese too! The cheese somehow made the soup became thicker and more enjoyable. It was an enjoyable budae jigae tho!

Korean ramen+cheese+warm soup: perfect ;)

ROLLING CHEESE WITH RIBS - 219k

The live cooking of the cheese, rolling it to the ribs was quite an entertainment to the eye. Portion of cheese was generous with 4 big chunks of beef ribs. The rib was quite flavorful at the outer side, but I found it was a bit bland in the middle site. Texture was tender, too. The cheese, in my honest opinion, was quite bland, I really hope it was more salty to enhance the flavor on the hot plate. Anyway they have 3 level of spiciness and the mild one was quite spicy already.

ROLLING CHEESE WITH CHICKEN WING - 99k

They had the same presentation with the previous one. I actually prefer this one rather than the ribs one. Chicken was tender and quite flavorful and the cheese (although it was bland) made it more tasty! It might be a bit subjective because I personally liked chicken better than beef. They also served it with potato wedges which was crunchy and well-seasoned.

FRIED RICE-29k

So when you order for Kimchi fried rice, the rice would be cooked on the top of hotplate rig after they cooked the rolling cheese for you. Kimchi sauce was a bit mild. I hope they can make a stronger flavor for the kimchi. Fried rice was not bad, but I thought a little bit of salt and soy sauce would be nice (I found it bland, too!).

JAPCHAE-69k

SEAFOOD PAJEON-49k

Japchae was actually quite nice but I really surprised with its small size comparing with the price. Pajeon was not the best I've ever had, a bit bland and I felt like the flour taste was quite dominating.

Overall it was quite a good dinner for me. From all that I tried, I recommended the rolling cheese with chicken wings because it was my favorite here. Although the ribs was not bad too. For cheese lover, trying this one is a must!

CHIR-CHIR INDONESIA

CHIR-CHIR is now serving in Indonesia!
Korean Fried Chicken is something big in Korean itself, and some countries such as Singapore. I've heard that Chir-Chir is quite a big hit in Singapore. I've read some reviews about Chir-Chir in Singapore and drooling at some of their menus. They got good reviews for it too! So let's see how good it is in Jakarta!

Appetizer for the day : CHEESE FRIES - 69k
All of their portion is big, even the appetizer! Fries is nice, melted cheese is quite generous and yummy. The fries is served with some kind of creamy sauce which is quite good. Well, cheese and fries is a combination people can not resist, right?

KKANPUNKING - 149k
This one is really good! Boneless chicken cooked with sweet and spicy sauce which is very flavorful, served with tteobokki and sweet potato. Not to mention the cheesy mayonnaise sauce which is also good! Well my opinion might be subjective because I personally LOVE the sweet and spicy sauce. Some of my friends said it was too sweet for them, but still, I enjoy this one A LOT!

SPRING ONION NEST - 149k
A unique innovation of theirs! Boneless chicken served with lotsa spring onion and garlic of the hot pan. Chicken is juicy and quite thick. I personally do not eat the spring onion, but the garlic is really boosting the flavor. It is good, but I prefer not to have the boneless one.

GARLICKY CHICKEN -159k
This one is also my favorite! Finger licking good fried chicken, very flavorful, and topped with lotsa garlic on it. Chicken is crunchy and well seasoned. This kind of fried chicken is something that everyone gonna love. I will recommend this to people if they are asking what to try in Chir-Chir!

Overall I really have a good time a Chir-Chir Indonesia. Tasty food with big portion that are meant to be shared with good friends. Gonna come back for sure!

ARASSEO JAKARTA

Say hello to Arraseo! Located in the busy street of Senopati, this Korean restaurant is not a newbie, but the goodness of their meal deserve the review! Was trying some of their new menus there, and surely those were one of my comfort food in Senopati. You know, the thing that comforting much when you are in hunger, they won't go wrong.

Let's jump into the food!

Gyu salad (78k)
Starting my lunch with something tasty yet flavorful. Fresh lettuce with tasty dressing, cuts of tomatoes, and slices of wagyu were such a good combination for a starter. Wagyu were tender with great seasoning.

Giblets shack (35k)
Okay now this is new. Cuts of giblets cooked with style on a sizzling pan. Good seasoning with cuts of chilly to make it richer. Never thought of it before! Suprisingly this one was quite good, especially for those who's a big fan of giblets!

Cheese chicken (85k)
My favorite meal of the day! Cuts of tender chicken, cooked with vegetables, with generous melted mozarella on top. The pouring sauce was very tasty, reminded me of sweet and sour chicken, but even better. I just could not stop myself to dig in the food!

Arasseo steak tartare (150k)
Now they caught me by surprise! This raw beef with egg yolk was such a pleasing plate, combined with their special sauce which made it really really good! The beef just melted in my mouth, like a burst of firework. Everthing on the plate was supporting each other to make a great taste. They came in pretty presentation with generous portion too!

Dream roll (49k)
Simply satisfying egg roll with fish roe, mayonnaise, and cheese filling. Egg roll and cheese won't ever fail, right? This one was pretty tasty. Such a comfort food indeed.

Oh my gyu (80k)
I am such a sucker for gyu tan lately, and I can say this one was pretty good! The gyutan was generous, some of them was chewy, but mostly was good. Seasoning was quite flavorful. I won't mind to have it as my comfort lunch.

Tartare dream (55k)
This one simply enjoyable! Imagine a bowl with warm rice, with cuts of lettuce, fried chicken, and their special tartare sauce. Simple, but this one really hooked my heart because it could deliver a comfort bowl with its simplicity. One of my favorite!

Beef grill with rice ball (125-220k)

I also had their Korean pancake with brown sugar filling, served with vanilla ice cream on top. Such a sweet ending to my enjoyable meal!
Overall I had a lovely afternoon, pleasant food, with good ambiance. Go give it a try!

Sinsa Ramyun

Hello! Long time no see, peeps!
As you know that I've been struggling a lot through my pediatric cycle in these last 2 months. Thanks to God it's over and surprisingly it was one of my favorite department so far! Well enough with my medical life and straight to the food blogging thingy!

I have to catch up with many new restaurants lately, and let's start with something simple yet tasty: Korean ramyun! Located in Taman kemang, this edgy corner is ready to serve you, accompanied by live music during the night.

Yellow and black are dominating. I should say I am quite surprised to see the comfort they're having. I can imagine having a casual night talk with a bunch of friends.

They're serving soup and dry ramen, several appetizers, and Korean dessert. I had myself honey chicken wing and ramen fries. All of them were flavorful and satisfying enough to accompany the feast.

They do have selection in dry and soup ramen, in regular and large size.  My kimchi ramyun sauce with beef sausage came in a really appetizing one. Perfectly cooked half boiled egg, cuts of sausage, and tasty thick ramen soup. This one could be a bit spicy for some people. This bowl could be your perfect companion through this cold season. Such a satisfying bowl indeed!

I also tried their galby ramyun dry with beef ribs, which is actually my favorite! Tasty noodle with flavorful seasoning, another good half boiled egg, mot to mention the tender beef ribs. Portion wise was quite generous, even in the regular one.

I had good appetizer, great main course, should be ended with sweet dessert! Here they have hotteok, which is actually Korean pancake filled with brown sugar and red bean. I am a big fan of hotteok, and I could say this one was quite good. Don't forget to dip in the ice cream!

Overall I had a good time here. Good food, nice ambiance. Good luck for the business!

Arasseo Soju Bar and Eatery

Throwing my memory back to one of my best holiday to Sydney and Melbourne. I remember trying so many restaurants which I never been to before. Most of them were Korean and Thailand restaurant. Korean food instantly became my favorite one at that time. Later when I got back to Indonesia, I found that our Korean food was not similar to theirs. Ours was dominated with grilled Korean barbecue while they were not.

So when bunch of ex-Melbourne students opened this kind of Korean restaurant, I was excited to give it a try. Moreover they just opened their door for lunch, giving me more chances to visit them. Arasseo located in the well-known Senopati area, just next to Pao Pao, sharing the same building with them. Decoration wise, it was not that spacious but comfortable.
Anyway, I had this lunch with its lovely owner and my foodie friend Verdi .

Started with something real good: Tartare dream!
A bowl of hearty warm rice topped with bite-sized chicken with tartare sauce. The chicken was tender, but the winner was the tartare sauce. It was really yummy and I could not stop digging to this bowl. They said it was a reflection of Melbourne's favorite dish called Kay's chicken. No wonder it was one of their favorite menu!

Fried rice wrapped in omelette and topped with katsu. It was alright, a type of meal that would be everyone's comfort zone. But I'd prefer more kick in this plate!

Another Melbourne signature in my bowl : Oh My Gyu!
Ox tongue has been such a celebrity recently, while my favorite is still the first one I had in Menya Melbourne. This one was quite good. Sauce tasted good and the ox tongue was enjoyable. They said they are gonna make it thinner though, which is a good idea for me.

Their creation was really innovative! Tried this Mr Chef Pasta which was basically pasta with gojuchang sauce, topped with beef and shredded cheese. The sauce itself had its unique taste, such a new experience to my palate.

Lovely lunch ended with lovely dessert. Got served this hotteok/korean pancake. I really liked the sweetness from the filling inside it, which consisted of peanut and brown sugar. Topped it with vanilla ice cream as a bonus, Yum!

Overall my lunch was really lovely. Lovely food, comfy ambiance, and lovely people. Surely will come back to try another creation of theirs!

The Cup Rice and Noodle

Talking about Korean fast food, some of them are not unfamiliar for us. But talking about this stylish Korean food might be new. Clean ambiance, the combination of green and white surely freshen the mind. They did well for the decoration to please me.

The Cup Rice and Noodle is a franchise from Korea, which has opened some of their stores in another part of Asia and Europe. Basically their concept is healthy and modern Korean food, which come in a cup. Unfortunately it was not for dining in. I always excited to eat in a cup, though. But they are contributing for better environment, right?

Ordering Bibimbap for judging this basic dish for Korean Restaurant. Their Bibimbab tasted good, well seasoned, tender and generous beef, with fried egg on top. The sauce they served separately was taste good too, a combination of sweet and salty, with a hint of spicy. It was such a fulfilling meal indeed!

And of course, having Tteopokki since I am a big fan of it. It came in a big portion. I love the texture of the Tteopokki itself, with cuts of fish cake and squids. The sauce did very well, but it might be too hot for some people. They served it with generous seafood on top. Tasted good, but I prefer to have it without any toppings.

Overall it was quite a good meal. Pricewise, it was not cheap, ranging from 60k-90k. But I found they are using local syrup for drinks and dessert. Is it a yes or no?

Jean's Chilly Chicken Gandaria City Jakarta

I drove along the road, heading to South. My mind went back to a few years ago, flew away with memories of my dream trip to Sydney. It was not a compulsive one, it was one of my-to-do-list-before-I-die. After months of planning, I had the opportunity to have that one came true!
Surely it was a great great memories. I loved everything about that city. Crowded city, lovely suburbs, pleasant people, with great food. I remembered taking train to reach this famous Korean food. After minutes of trip and few blocks to go through, I finally had my first Jean's chilly chicken experience.

The one that located in Gandaria City is not that famous, I wonder why. It was quite a gloomy ambiance they had, and surprisingly they did not familiarize the way to eat this. I had myself jean's chilly chicken mixed with cheese chilly chicken in regular size (around 80k). I recommend to make an order in reguler size, to have the chicken on a hotplate (they used usual plating for the small size). Do not forget to have their rice ball (25k) which basically was rice with toasted seaweed and sesame and came with plastic gloves and scissor. The fun part was, you could make your own rice bowl. I personally liked mine with big chunks of chilly chicken with thin wrap of rice! Another plate of chilly chicken egg roll was quite pleasing too. Egg roll met chicken and mozzarella cheese was supposed to be good, right?

Calories. Oh well. Life's to short to be on diet! :p

And here was my recent obsession: Tteobokki! (65k)
I loved the consistency, some restaurants made it too rubbery, while some made it a bit too mushy. But theirs was great. With the twist of mozarella, fish cake, and good sweet chilly sauce, I just could not resist this!

The one in Sydney was always be the winner, but this one was enough to bring back the memories.

PS: I am currently eating tteobokki a lot. Any recommendation of a good one? ;)
